Penetration Efficacy Test
We tested nine multi-purpose maintenance fluids using in-house standard operating procedures for penetrative properties. (See the full text here).
Penetration efficacy was measured by determining the torque required to release a bolt that has been rusted into a steel block.
PROCEDURE: At first we prepared the mild steel test blocks with a thread tapped from a circular well cut into the top face. Then we filled the section with salt water for 24 hours. A mild steel hex bolt was also submerged in salt water.
After 24 hours, the hex bolt was tightened into the steel test block to a measured torque. Then both the block and bolt were left to stand for 48 hours.
A known volume of the test product was then introduced into the well around the hex bolt head and the block was left to stand for 7 days.
Then we measured the torque required to release the bolt head from the block.
RESULTS: Both XCP One and XCP Green One have a marked improvement in penetrative performance in comparison to alternative multi-purpose products tested.
That makes XCP One up to 50% more effective at loosening rusted bolts than competitors! Use it to release metal parts that are stuck, seized or rusted together.
LOWER EVAPORATION RATE

XCP One has a significantly lower evaporation rate compared to its competitors. Slower evaporation means the liquid stays around longer, leading to higher penetration and better lubricity. PROCEDURE: We used four steel test plates that were cleaned and dried thoroughly. We used plates with a raised edge to ensure that the surface area of liquid exposed to the atmosphere was constant in each case.
We prepared samples of each product by allowing it to stand uncovered at ambient temperature (25 +- 1°C) for 30 minutes. This storage time is to allow the majority of the propellant entrained in the liquids to dissipate.
Then a recorded weight of each liquid was pipetted onto individual plates. The test plates were held at the same atmospheric conditions for 24 hours. We recorded the weight loss due to liquid evaporation at periodic intervals.
RESULTS: The results show that the competitors (WD40 and GT 85) exhibit markedly higher weight loss due to evaporation over the 24 hour test period.

WAYS OF APPLIANCE

XCP ONE is designed for use with metal parts and surfaces. For retail markets and individuals, the product will be most useful in aerosol or trigger spray can. However, it is also available in 5 liter dunks to be used in production or industrial environments.
Treat the relevant area with XCP One and allow the product to take effect, ensuring excess liquid is wiped off. Repeat as necessary. If used on coated and/or non-metal surfaces and parts, test on an inconspicuous area first. Caution: always disconnect any live electrical sources before spraying.
